Upcoming workshop in Switzerland.
Olsen will be leading a 10 day workshop building and firing a one of his fire sculptures at the Toepferschule, Gordola, Ticino, Switzerland from the 24th June - 4th July, 2009. Details on workshop costs etc. from Manula Corda. See the Toepferschule website (German and Italian only)

Upcoming workshops in Switzerland and Denmark
Gordola, Switzerland.
4 - 10 June, 2007.
A one week owrkshop at the Topferschule Gordola building and firing a large sculpture to be fired during the Gordola Ceramic Symposium, Saturday 10th June. The symposium features
17 ceramic artists and potters including Michael Flynn (UK), Steve Mattison (Wales), Stefan Jacob (Switzerland), Nino Mandricci (Italy) and Thomas Welti (Italy). Details form Manuela Corda at www.toepferschule.ch

Guldagergaard International Ceramic Research Center - Denmark
June 1 - 23, 2007
Fred will be leading the fring of the "Church Kiln" during the Nordic Wood Fire Marathon. Program details at www.ceramic.dk

NCECA AWARD
At the 2007 NCECA conference in Louisville, Kentucky, Fred Olsen was presented with the award of HONORARY MEMBER OF THE COUNCIL in recognition of outstanding accomplishment and notable contributions to the ceramic arts.

Wood firing workshop in Hungary
Fred fired several of the Kecskemét centres wood kilns four times during this workshop including the Olsen fast fire and the salt kiln. This practical
workshop covered all aspects of wood firing - glazes, atmospheres, firing cycles etc.

Fire Sculpture at Nove, Italy
The summer of 2003 saw Fred and a team of assistants constructing a 5 metre sculpture for the ceramics festival in Nove, Italy.

Kiln building project at Hohr Grenzhausen.
Fred designed and constructed two wood fire kilns for the Institute for Ceramics and Glass in Koblenz. Arthur Mueller and a team of students assisted in the project.

Solo Exhibition at the Keramikmuseum Westerwald
A major exhibition of Fred Olsen's recent work was held at Germany's prestigious Keramikmuseum, Westerwald in Koblenz, the home of saltglaze. Opened on May 9th, 2003 many pieces were sold to collectors and museum collections.
